On October 23, 2009, in the historic Heidelberg St John's Church, Melinda Antoinette Bakker and Peter George Keogh were married.
Melinda is the youngest daughter of Lorraine and Rudi Bakker of the Melbourne suburb View Bank and Peter the youngest son of Peg and Norman Keogh of Yass.
The wedding ceremony was performed by Father Edward Teal.
During the ceremony the First reading from the Old Testament Song of Songs was read by the Groom’s mother Peg Keogh.
The Second reading was given by brother of the Bride Trace Bakker who read from the first letter of St Paul to the Corinthians (verses 12:31 to 13:8).
The Responsorial Psalm and the Prayers of the Faithful were read by Bride's cousin Nicole Francke.
The music for the wedding ceremony was played by the Darcy String Quartet from the Melbourne School of Music.
The radiant Bride looked stunning in her classical 1940s fashioned Lucia De Belle chiffon wedding gown that featured a diamond encrusted bodice and a long flowing skirt. She wore a full length two tier tulle veil that was held in place by a silver diamante clasp.
For something old Melinda wore the Groom's mother's 97-year-old family diamond ring. She carried a simple bouquet of cream and white roses and orchids.
Matron of Honour was the Bride's sister Maryann Adam and the Bridesmaid was a very close friend Stacey Lawson. Both looked most attractive in their 3/4 dusty pink satin gowns. Each carried a bouquet similar to the Bride.
The Groom, Best Man Desmond Fisher and Groomsman Mark Nebredia wore black suits with white shirts and white and grey satin vests. Each wore a cream rose boutonnière.
The two wedding cars were classical late model 1940s Buick Eights, a convertible model and the sedan that was the Commonwealth vehicle of former Prime Minister Ben Chifley.
Both the mothers of the Bride and Groom looked absolutely splendid.
The Bride’s mother wore a two-piece satin and lace mocha latte coloured suit with matching accessories. The Groom’s mother wore a two piece jersey aubergine coloured frock with attractive matching accessories.
Special guests who attended the wedding were the Bride's aunties and uncle Cynthia Lowrey, Brigie and Herman Bakker. The Groom's brother Jeffrey travelled from Miami, USA, to attend Melinda and Peter's wedding day.
The reception was held in the dining rooms of the Healesville Hotel.
The newly weds are at present enjoying an European Train travel honeymoon starting from London to Paris then Florence ending in Rome.
