More than 250 rural towns will be represented and the equivalent of 21,632 years of farming experience will be in attendance at the NSW Farmers’ Association Annual Conference next month.
Six Yass farmers will be part of the conference, the largest annual gathering of farmers in NSW, joining over 400 delegates from towns across the State. Our representatives will be Ed Storey, Michael Merriman and Dave Hewlett from Yass, with David Hallam and Stanley Marshall from Gunning and Michael Carey from Wee Jasper.
Delegates at the Annual Conference will set the direction for the State’s largest and strongest lobby group over the next year and will help provide direction for the future of farming in NSW. Delegates will debate the big issues facing rural and regional people as well as the agricultural industry generally.
“Farmers will put the most vital issues on the table for debate to decide a way forward on a range of issues including climate change, telecommunications and pest control to name but a few,” Mr Laurie said.
“These farmers from around the State, men and women, young and old, have been chosen to represent their communities and commodity groups and discuss the big issues in agriculture and rural NSW, setting the agenda for the Association and ensuring strong representation for farming communities in NSW,” Mr Laurie said..”
NSW Farmers’ Association Members in each region choose local representatives to attend Annual Conference as Delegates in the weeks leading up to the event.
A host of special events are on the agenda including the third annual Regional Food Fair, showcasing the best produce from across the State supplied by farmers in regional and rural NSW, and the announcement of the prestigious NSW Farmer and Young Farmer of the Year Awards.
NSW Farmers’ Association President Jock Laurie, Walcha, will conclude his tenure as President after four years in the top job and a new President will be elected.
