The biannual Lifeline Canberra Bookfairs provide a major portion of the funding required to keep Lifeline’s telephone counselling lines open to the community.
Each year the Lifeline Canberra Bookfair recycles up to one million books donated by generous members of the community. The Bookfair has been operating in Canberra for 37 years and has never been held outside of the ACT.
For this first time, Yass will this year host a regional mobile Bookfair on Saturday December 5.
Organisers say this is a direct result of the large number of people who travel to Canberra for the autumn and spring Bookfairs requesting a mobile library visit their own area.
Lifeline will this year trial the concept in Yass and needs your support to make the trip a success.
There will be over 2000 excellent quality second hand books on offer at Banjo Paterson Park on December 5 from 10am to 3pm.
Mystery, Crime, Fantasy, Adventure, Romance – there will be something for everyone!
The mobile Bookfair will be in Yass just in time for Christmas so stock up on all of your favourites and help this very worthy community service continue operating.
The Lifeline Canberra 24 hour telephone counselling service extends right across the south east corner of NSW and has volunteers from this region who regularly drive into Canberra to help at the warehouse, sorting books or doing a shift on the crisis lines.
All profits from the sales on December 5 will go towards supporting the service to ensure it can remain open to the people of the region seven days a week, 365 days a year on 13 1114.
Buy a raffle ticket on the day and be in the draw to win a $50 voucher to use at the autumn Bookfair, held at Exhibition Park in Canberra on April 16-18 next year.
