Taronga Western Plains Zoo is inviting everyone to come and meet Nadira the female White Rhino calf.
The healthy Southern White Rhinoceros calf was born on Thursday April 10 and is now ready to meet the public.
NSW Environment Minister Verity Firth has seen the adorable Nadira and implores others to do so.
“She is simply a must-see for anyone in the area. But Nadira’s significance extends even further than her considerable lovability,” Ms Firth said.
Nadira is the sixth calf born to the Zoo’s White Rhino breeding program since 2003, when five White Rhinoceros were transported from Kuger National Park in South Africa to add important genetic diversification to the Zoo’s herd.
“It is further proof of the exemplary animal management and husbandry practice of Taronga Western Plains Zoo.
“I encourage everyone to get down to the Zoo to view these absolutely magnificent animals for themselves,” Ms Firth said.
To celebrate the arrival of Nadira the Yass Tribune has one family pass (two adults and two children) to give away. The pass is valued at $98.50 and is valued until January 31, 2009.
Taronga Western Plains Zoo is located in Dubbo in Central Western NSW. The Zoo is open everyday of the year from 9.00am – 4.00pm. For more information about the Zoo contact 6881 1400 or visit www.taronga.org.au.
