Here comes winter football

03 Feb, 2012 03:00 AM
Summer football will soon come to a close and those at the Yass Redbacks are encouraging anyone who is interested to come and register to play this winter.

Registration is now open online, with payment sessions scheduled for February 10 and 17 from 5.50pm to 7.30pm at Walker Park. A separate information session will be held on Saturday February 25.

By season’s end last year, one men’s side made the grand final while three junior sides were also runners-up.

In 2012 those at the Redbacks now want to see every side in the club finish in the top half of their table by the end of the season.

The club will introduce the inaugural PeeWee age division which will be an in-house competition between players aged five to seven. It is hoped it will bring new players to the club and set a good platform for development.

Club president Drew Gallagher wants the club to grow across all ages and be the best it can be.

“Old and new players from all age divisions are always welcome to join the club,” he said.

“We would also like to focus on our development of all players and coaches with looking at possible introduction of professional coaching in the future.”
