A host of past Yass Golf Club Open champions have been invited to return to Worth Street for the highly coveted December shoot out.
Once again the valued sponsors of the Yass Golf Club have dug deep to back a huge day of golf at the old course. Ian and Vicki Robertson and their landscape supplies business will be the chief sponsor for the Yass Open on Saturday December 5 while monthly sponsor, The Bob Rogers Clothing Co, will play the support role in once again putting up the money for the cherished first Saturday in December Guzzlers Mug.
Past champions from 1980 to 2008 have all been invited to attend and Yass A grader Paul Matthews has also invited a strong contingent from his former Sydney Clubs Leonay and Rosnay.
The strongest field in many a long year is expected to test our in-form Club Champion Sam Porter in the 2009 Yass Open Championship.
Last weekend witnessed a continuation of high scores on the sizzling and running fairways of the old course. Tim Kelly had his best ever score of 71 off the Pings, Sam Porter recorded a wonderful three under par 65, Kevin Healy continued his career best form with a winning 46pts in B Grade while Steve Pearce and Wayne Wilson picked up big pay packets of $100 and $165 in the Super Sunday gold rush.

This week he wins the Thursday comp by a clear couple of points and you will see below he has also won in Business House.

Club House Murmurings
The tenth anniversary NSW (Yass) versus Victoria clash on the Murray resulted in an all square result. Over the past years Victoria has won seven, Yass one and two have been squared. ‘Gudge’ Barrie won all four longest drives, tour guide Warren Neilson best "Movember" adornment and the Yass team was reputedly strengthened by the non availability of Jim Byrne, Mick Bell and Tony Bayley.
The pennant team expressions of availability lists have now been completed and are being scrutinised as to the final representative listings. Anyone who missed out and is interested should immediately contact Captain Neville Matthew or Masters Captain Allan Golding.
Keep your eyes on the Club House noticeboard for news of a pennant Sunday in December – golf and barbecue for all team members. We need managers for all team, so please give thought to putting your hand up as a volunteer.
