Oh yes indeed! There are probably as many ways of saying it as the strokes he took to win it. Barry Topple made short work of a smaller than usual November Guzzlers field last Saturday when he claimed the pewter ware with his 92-35-57 to record his second victory in as many weeks. His 35 handicap is reduced to 31.4 but with 42 strokes only on the back nine last Saturday it would appear that Barry will have little difficulty with the new number.
Well done Barry – the members will gladly re fill the mug for you during the pre Christmas month.
Allan Golding won A Grade with his net 60 on a countback from Gary Butcher and Ben Burden was of the highest standard in his best gross score effort of 68 for a par round off the Pings.
On the Sunday an increased field of thirty-one players enjoyed the beautiful weather and high scoring continued as the norm. Jim Aravanis maintained his good form and lost another shot off his handicap in recording a winning 43 stableford points. Vince Giuca lost a shot and moved up from the bottom rung in winning B Grade with 41pts.
The old course is dry and fast with lots of run. The mid week tees are up so far that I am camera ready for the first player observed teeing off the first tee with a putter!

The sanded and cored greens had Peter Boutcher closing his eyes and imagining that he was still reclining on a Gold Coast beach as he cruised to victory with 22pts in the Thursday hit out. Barry Topple gave clear indication of his coming big weekend as he accumulated 20pts for second spot and balls went to Bernie Puckett, Clive Phillips and Captain Jack Wales.

In local matchplay Brad Porter had a win against Phil White and will play the winner of the B Burden/R Camons match. Waiting for that outcome is Club champion Sam Porter, who had a win over Rob Dickson in the semi.
The I and V Robertson Yass Open on Saturday December 1 will feature appearances by past champions. Invitations have already gone to Brian Brooker, John Hayes and Grant Keogh. Multiple champion and personality Rod Boyd and Mick Miller are also on the wanted list.
Sam Porter was a notable absentee last Saturday – apparently his one and only weakness is slow and sandy greens!
