The ladies Minor Singles competition continued this week with Wendy Steel defeating Thelma Butt 27-12.
Wendy’s blue genies were on their best behaviour and certainly worked their magic throughout this game, making things very difficult for Thelma.
Enid Brooker’s talent on the green took its toll on Lorraine Cooke in a game which saw Enid score 10 shots over the first four ends before Lorraine could get on the board.
By end 13 Enid was ahead by 13 shots but soon became stuck in a hole, giving Lorraine a chance to make up for lost ground. Enid struck back again and continued to tick the score along, notching up a 26-15 win.
In a semi-final game Enid Brooker proved too strong for Helen Macarthur. Enid had another flying start but was unable to keep up the momentum in the second half of the game. Although Helen made a valiant attempt to catch up, the gap was too great and Enid won the game 25-16.
Our pennant competition is now finished following our last game on Tuesday. It was no surprise that both grades finished at the bottom of the ladder.
We hope that next year we will be put back into our correct grades where our teams should be more evenly matched.
There were no social bowls played on Tuesday due to the showery weather but two games were played on Thursday. Kevin Baker and Chris Butt led throughout their game and defeated Ken Hall and Margaret Holston 18-13. Velvy McLeod and Wilma Bingley marginally held out Margaret Hutt and Kath Grace 18-15.
