* George Tooke Shield
The day was perfect. Supporters turned up, there was plenty of hot food and cold beer in the kiosk and the Waldren Constructions SW Binalong Brahmans were fit and ready as they ran onto Binalong Oval at 2pm.
There was, of course, one problem: there was no opposition. Much to the disappointment of Brahmans players and supporters, Bungendore only turned up with eight players. Needless to say, a forfeit was the only option after 15 minutes of waiting patiently.
So much for last year’s grand final replay… The Brahmans had a training run, the crowd stayed at the oval, the raffle and double were drawn, hot food and cold drinks were consumed and then contingent headed to the Binalong Golf Club where a good day was had by all… if only there was some football.
This Sunday the South West Binalong Brahmans travel to Goulburn to clash with the Exchange Rabbitohs at the early time of 10.30am. The Brahmans will be in search of their eighth win in succession since their round one loss at the hands of arch-rivals the Harden Hawks.
A reminder to all supporters and all interested parties that on Saturday July 11 the Brahmans will be holding "Shear Mania" – an attempt to shear 1000 sheep in a day - at Kuriong shearing shed, Binalong.
Shearers and shed hands are still required. Contact Adrian Sykes on 62274337 if you can help out. All proceeds raised go to the football club. The event is being sponsored by Landmark Boorowa and Young Shearing Supplies. The days work will be followed by NSW's biggest cut out party at 7pm, which will include hot food, bonfires and music. Bring your own refreshments and a chair. A stellar time is assured.
