Time to catch some carp

It’s on tomorrow kids, grab your fishing rod and get down to Riverbank Park for the Catch a Carp day.

There will be lots of prizes up for grabs and registration starts at 8am, near the river end of Church Street.

Presentation will be at 3.30pm and you must be present to claim a prize. All proceeds will go towards native fish re-stocking of the Yass River.

On the club front, there have been good numbers of fish being weighed in over the last few weeks. Ted Maher is leading the Fisherman of the Year competition, with last year’s winner Rob Pollack second and Grahama Thurlow third.

Jane Reardon leads the ladies competition, with Robyn Jones and Annmarie Bruce not far behind. The junior competition has Josh Lawrence first, Reece Bush second and Tom Penyu is third.

The October combined clubs barbecue weekend was a great event, with visitors coming from Smithfield, Young, Griffith and Wollongong, just to name a few.

On December 1 and 2 plenty of members are headed for Lake Windemere. It is home to some big yellow belly so it is a great chance for fisherman to claim big points.

It is great to see some of our new members enjoying the fishing as well and trying hard to score some points in various competitions.

See you all Saturday, it is a great fish and feral fish like carp need to be taken from our rivers.
