YOUR SUNDAY SPORT IS AUSTRALIA’S BEST
THE Australian Sports Commission has recognised The Sunday Age for the best print and online coverage of sport. The awards, presented in Sydney on Thursday, are given for exceptional, well researched and innovative coverage of sporting issues.
The ten items the judges considered were Jake Niall’s profile on Lance Franklin 'Being Buddy', Andrew Tate’s interview with Mark Webber at the start of the formula one season, a series of columns on sport’s ‘Seven Deadly Sins’ illustrated by Matt Davidson and our September Masterpieces posters with art by Jim Pavlidis and words by Peter Hanlon.
It was a big night for Fairfax Media with Stathi Paxinos winning the award for best coverage of disability sport, Richard Hinds winning best coverage of sport by an individual and Daniel Lane for best reporting of an issue in sport. Samantha Lane was highly commended in the best coverage of sport by an individual.
