No big cod were reported this week. The fishing has been quiet, with three fish on a lime green number one stump jumper, in the main basin, being the best report. The hot weather and falling water has been quietening the fishing and fishermen. Hopefully the worst of the summer is behind us.

Yellow belly: trolling and casting around the large amount of standing timber is producing results with some good size fish being caught this week. The fish are holding in the deeper water during the day. A tip is to use small hard bodies that can get down beyond 15 feet on the troll. Casting spinner baits or crank baits around the timber is also producing fish. For the bait fishermen, worms are still working well. A 54 centimetre fish was the biggest for the week.
Redfin: worms are doing the job for the bait fishermen. Not too many fish are getting taken on the troll.
Trout: no reports this week but 6000 rainbow fingerlings were released on Monday around the main basin. Other fish were also released further up stream.
Carp: plenty are being caught on worms and corn.
Park news: construction of three fish cleaning shelters has commenced, after a grant was approved from the Fresh Water Fishing Trust. Manufacturing is being carried out by local Yass firm B & V Engineering. On-site works are to commence in February, with completion by mid-March.
Carly Van Delft and Greg Byng, along with some local singers, will be appearing at the park on Saturday January 26. They will set up on the newly constructed stage beside the kiosk. Day visitors will pay the normal $10 car entry fee to attend the show. Music will kick off at 4pm. There will be a spit roast cooking with sandwiches for sale as well as the normal take away food and beverages for sale from the kiosk.

Weather: storms are predicted today and possible showers over the Australia Day long weekend. Temperature will reach a maximum of 35 degrees Celsius today, before cooling off this weekend. A maximum of 31 degrees Celsius will be reached on Saturday and 27 on Sunday. Monday will reach around 30 degrees Celsius. Winds will reach 16 km/h during the weekend. We have had 0.6 millimetres of rain for the month. The lowest on record is 1.1mm. The average maximum temperature for January 2013 is up by 5.3 degrees Celsius.
