Hamish Bird’s family is working on raising $10,000 to cover the cost of the dog for the young boy.
For Hamish, whose diagnosis includes epilepsy, a specially trained dog could provide companionship, comfort and support, and could also sense the onset of an epileptic fit.
A neighbourhood garage sale is being held this weekend to raise money to go toward the cause.
The Vashon garage sale is on tomorrow between 9am and noon at Larson Lane, off Morton Avenue.
