Hamish Bird’s family is working on raising $10,000 to cover the cost of the dog for the young boy.
For Hamish, whose diagnosis includes epilepsy, a specially trained dog could provide companionship, comfort and support, and could also sense the onset of an epileptic fit.
A neighbourhood garage sale is being held this weekend to raise money to go toward the cause.
