Those on the gate during Sunday afternoon of the Gunning Show, heard this comment from several people who stopped on their way home to pass on their congratulations
It is echoed by Gunning PA&I Society president Kelly Dowling who said, “the 111th Gunning Show was a fantastic show with gate takings up 20 per cent on previous years.
“The wonderful weather meant a fun family day for competitors, exhibitors and show goers. A huge selection of free kids' activities was a winner which was made possible by our generous local businesses.
“All our competitions were above expectations and our pavilion certainly showed off our diverse range of talents and interests.
“The show movement is certainly back in vogue and we hope that everyone enjoyed their day as much as our hard working committee."
Gunning Showgirl 2013
The Gunning Showgirl 2013, Kymberly Heffernan, had a great day at the annual show sashing winners, meeting new people as well as being chief steward for home crafts and hobbies in the pavilion.
With her strong family background in merino sheep she had particular pleasure in congratulating the shearing competition winners. Another highlight was learning from Rob Harborne about what to look for when judging alpacas.
Kymberly will complete her studies as a Primary School Teacher at the University of Canberra this year. Kymberly has a passion for teaching in small rural schools and has indicated a preference to be placed in such a school after her graduation in September.
Accompanied by her proud parents Eris and Lyn, and Gunning PA&I Society president Kelly Dowling, Kymberly is off to Bega this weekend to be judged in zone three for the opportunity to be chosen as a finalist in the Sydney Royal Showgirl competition.
Our every best wish for your continued success Kymberly and we're sure you will do us proud.
Show raffle first prize went to Kahli Weir of Dalton who was thrilled with the Family Fun Pack, saying she had never won anything!
Sam Southwell was delighted with the Picnic Pack while Geoff Selmes got his heart's desire with the Multi Function Power Station.
The Fitness Voucher set was snagged by Annie Basnett, while Roy Bush of Canberra won the lovely framed print.

Weeds officer clarification
Local concerns that the replacement of our weeds officer might not be based in Gunning were misplaced as I now know that this position was advertised as Gunning based within days of the departure of the previous officer. Any suggestion in my previous article that public pressure had achieved this outcome is therefore incorrect.
