Police allege they had to dodge flying household appliances, including a flatsceen TV, then drag a man from his apartment after he set it alight.

Officers were called to a disturbance at MacArthur Street, Ultimo, about 1.15am on Sunday when they allege Wayne Gardiner, 46, began throwing things from his fifth floor unit.
They retreated to their car as items, including a bicycle, stereo, saucepans and flatscreen TV, rained down on them.
One of the appliances is alleged to have smashed into a police car, damaging it but narrowly missing officers.
When police noticed black smoke billowing from the unit they tried to enter but found the door had been blockaded.
They eventually forced their way in and dragged Mr Gardiner from the burning unit.
The fire was extinguished by Fire and Rescue NSW.
Five police officers and the accused were treated for smoke inhalation.
Mr Gardiner was charged with affray, two counts of destroy or damage property, damage property by fire, and resisting police.
He did not apply for bail at Parramatta Local Court on Saturday, and the matter was adjourned to Central Local Court on Wednesday.
