A Holden Commodore caught on fire on the Barton Highway between Yass Valley Way and Murrumbateman at about 2pm this afternoon.

The car was heading south at the time. The blaze caused a subsequent grassfire on the adjacent paddock. Local firefighters quickly brought the grassfire under control.
The higway was closed for approximately 1.5 hours, with northbound traffic diverted via Gundaroo Road, and cars not being able to enter the Barton Highway from Yass Valley Way or the Hume Highway.
No-one was injured in the incident. It's understood the vehicle had recently undergone an expensive restoration and was intended to race in Summernats.
