The windy weather conditions played havoc with some players, but we could not blame the golf course as it was in perfect condition. A big thank you goes to our volunteer workers.
This year our Championship was sponsored by Waters Brothers Concreting and we thank Scott and Brett for sponsoring this important event.
The club champion for 2013 is Trudy Payne, congratulations Trudy. Trudy had to fight for the win as she had Lesley Farquharson challenging over the whole four days. Lesley only lost by two shots, well done Lesley.
The B-grade champion is Marion Darmody who also had a close battle, only winning by one shot from our evergreen Julia Genders.
Results:
Club champion - Trudy Payne; runner up and consolation Tray winner - Lesley Farquharson.
Ruth Williamson Memorial Trophy (best 72 holes nett)- Julia Genders; runner up - Sheralee Sheedy.
Winner 36 holes nett - Ginny Hewlett; runner up - Maureen Bray.
Winner 18 holes nett - Isobel Burden; runner up Janet Bamford; third place - Shirley Williamson; fourth place - Judy Broers.
Medal of medals winner was Julia Genders; and winner of the young cup best 18 holes nett over the four days was Maureen Bray with 66 nett.
Our final important event for 2013 is the Lillian Hodgkinson Shield which will be played on Sunday November 10. The event is a four-ball-best-ball and there is a sheet on the board for players wishing to play. We urge players to organise a partner and support this great event, hit off time will be from 9.30am.
Our thanks go to Frank Hodgkinson for his continued sponsorship of this event and for always making himself available to present the shield to our winners.
Today we play a stableford event and next week we play an Irish four-ball-worst-ball event.
