On Saturday in the Yass Pro Shop sponsored Ambrose event, it was the current and past green keepers of Gerard Kerin and Mark Holt who knew what to do in posting a seven under par 61 early in the day to put a challenge to the rest of the field. In the end it was good enough to hold off runners-up Rob Field and Tim Smith, who came in with a 62.
In the nett event there was only quarter shots separating the top three pairings, with the pair from Bermagui - Shane Seaton and Craig Barnsley taking the honour with 57.25 from Nev Matthews and Scott Medway with 57.5 and Ian Gibson and Jessie Keegan with 57.75. In Sunday's IA & VP Roberson Landscaping Supplies Yass Open Championship, Tim Smith continued his impressive form, shooting a three under par 65 to take out this year's Open. Smith won by five shots from Ian Gibson (Yowani), Joshua Anderson (Royal Canberra) and Shane Seaton (Bermagui) all with 70's. In the grade events it was all about the locals with Mick Bell handing in a fine card of 77 to take out B-grade, and Wayne Biddle picking up the C-grade with his 88. In the 'Win a car for a hole in one' competition, there were a couple of close calls but no one managed pop the ball in the 15th hole. Congratulations to all the winners and competitors who took part in this year's Open events. Also we must thank our sponsors Kirk Davis, Brendan Abbey and Luff Motors.
