Rural Fire Service NSW Yass superintendent Peter Dyce said units were called to extinguish a small grass fire at Kangiara, which burnt out 0.2 hectares.
Lightning ignited small fires in trees located on properties at Yass River and Gundaroo, the latter burning about 0.1 hectares of grassland too.
A fourth fire at Springfield was caused by lightning striking green timber. About 0.4 hectares burnt.
All fires were contained quickly and fully blacked out on Monday morning.
Mr Dyce said a band of smoke which blew in from fires elsewhere on Saturday evening also caused concerns among residents.
It moved across the Queanbeyan, Canberra and Gundaroo areas at about 4.30pm and reached Yass at about 6.30pm.
He believed it blew across with the southerly change from fires burning at the south coast, in Victoria and near Wagga Wagga.
“The cooler weather will give our firefighters a chance to rest up and prepare for the next change of weather,” he said.
