Very mixed weather conditions last weekend resulted in some mixed sporting results. On Friday evening, after a few sprinkles, six bowlers took to the green for the twilight competition. The winners were Stan Walsh, Yvonne and Grant Whitechurch. Yvonne and Grant are new players so hopefully the win spiked their interest in the game. John Stadtmiller and Philip Walsh were the winners on Sunday afternoon.

The golfers continued the chicken run on Sunday afternoon. John Lee had another win and lost another shot from his handicap. After several months, I made a return to the course (and don't I know it today) and scored the trophy for the women. Ethel Lee won the putting and again Grant won the spoon. I heard that some players won't play as they do not want their name in the paper as the wooden spooners. If you don't like the publicity, please tell me and I will not mention your name. Don't let that stop your golf.
Next week the time for the chicken run is back to 3pm.
Gladys and John Regan left on Tuesday for a touring holiday, beginning with the Great Ocean Road, then other parts of Victoria, SA and the Riverina.
Ethel Lee with daughters Christine, Carol and Julie and a relative from Griffith last week travelled to Bairnsdale to visit with her sister.
The busy life of the local school children continues with swimming carnivals (at Junee last week), visits from Bendigo Bank representatives, new video conferencing units in the infants' room, a family fun activity where they made pictures from shapes they were given (the winners were the Howard family with the Duffy family the runners up), sport and Clean Up Australia Day, to name just some of the activities.
The 18 members of the school band have begun serious practice. Miss O'Connor has joined.
On Friday March 14 the school will have Read Aloud Day as well as Funky Hair Day where the kids can go to school out of uniform and with some crazy hair styles. Cost is a gold coin to raise money for the Leukaemia Foundation.
A parent or grandparent is asked to go to the school at 10.30am to read with the children. They are invited to have morning tea with the children.
A reminder about overdue library books and hats in the playground was in the school bulletin.
Star winners were Henry McColl, Amelia Wilson and Jack Paterson.
Until next time
