The Tribune received a bundle of votes for Roger Buckman’s Yass Ideas. There wasn’t much between the top three with the Glass Fountain just making it by half a star. We also had a tie for fourth place.
To view the ideas once more, visit our website, www.yasstribune.com.au, and click on the photo gallery.
The favourites were, in order:
1. Glass fountain
A multilevel feature with toughened glass and water sparkling in the sunshine.
2. Wool industry tribute
A mob of 100 cast concrete sheep coming down to the Yass River to drink.
3. Rain chimes
A tower that catches the falling rain to turn a water wheel which strikes tubular bells.
4. Welcoming visitors
A wind-animated visitors sign, displaying all the features of life in the Yass Valley.
4. On the road to Yass
Outlines of past road users, silhouetted beside the exit ramps from the highway.
5. Welcome to Yass
A parallax sculpture at the entry to town that forms and dissolves the words ‘Welcome to Yass’ as you drive past.
All voting forms and comments received at the Tribune will be forward to Roger Buckman, who is in the process of seeking support and funding.
