Stock theft

Yass police are investigating the theft of $56,000 worth of stock from a Blakney Creek property during the past three months.

Police said 400 Merino ewes aged between 18 months old to six or seven-years-old went missing or were stolen sometime between February 2 and May 3, from a property on North Blakney Creek Road.

The sheep were joined and drenched in early February. They were again brought in for crutching and drenching in May. At this point a count revealed 400 head were missing. They are valued between $100 and $160, with a total value of $56,000.

At the time of joining in February 2012 the total number of sheep on the property was 13300.
