Mt Carmel relives the 80's

Nearly 50 students from Mt Carmel School have been singing, dancing and acting during rehearsals to present the rollicking school musical performance of Neil Gooding’s ‘Back to the 80s’.

With big hair, leg warmers, taffeta dresses and ghetto blasters booming out hits like Love Shack, Footloose and 500 Miles, the show will be a big blast into our past.

Come along and re-live the highs and lows of the senior class at William Ocean High as seen through the eyes of Corey Palmer, an insecure and love struck teenager.

Corey has his heart set on being elected school president and on getting that elusive girlfriend.

The competition for both is mixed. He’s up against a chick magnet and a geek who fearlessly predicts the introduction of mobile phones.

Back to the 80s is a non-stop rollercoaster of laughs and great songs which sends up everything from Star Wars to Karate Kid.

The clever and talented production team at Mt Carmel has developed a reputation for creating high quality and professional standard productions in past years and this will be no exception.

Annie Teasdale (drama teacher and director) and Jane Edwards (music teacher and musical director) are impressed and proud of the effort and commitment shown by so many students.

The first performance was last night, but the kids will back up tonight and tomorrow night from 7pm at the Mt Carmel School Performing Arts Centre. Tickets cost $12.
