Tim Blair and Shane Taylor have embarked on an eight-day 960 km journey to the final destination of Bondi, hoping to raise upwards of $100,000 for the Kid’s Cancer Project and the Tim Blair Run For Kids Foundation.

So extreme is the physical toll that Tim Blair had to receive urgent attention from a doctor in Yass after his left foot went numb, and swelling and soreness almost resulted in compartment syndrome.  

Tim was back on the road the next day, as the pair headed up the Hume Highway towards Berrima, and told the Tribune the physical strain wouldn’t get in the way of their goal.

“It can get hard but at the end of the day we remember what we’re doing it for and it isn’t hard compared to what these kids go through,” Tim said.

Inspiringly, Tim and Shane have been doing these charity runs for years (although “nothing this big”) and see it as an obligation.

“We don’t have a personal reason for doing this, but as an adult and as a parent it’s our responsibility to look after our children,” he continued.

“Kids that get sick don’t deserve it; they deserve the opportunity to grow old and we need to protect them as much as we can.”

They are quick to deflect the ‘hero’ tag, and say it is the people that donate that are the real heroes.

“We are raising money to find a cure, which isn’t too far away and when we find the cure it will be the people that donated that will be the reason for it, they are the heroes.”

At the time of writing the ‘Bluff to Bondi’ as it has been dubbed had already raised more than $22,000.
