Mr Fyfe ran in 2007 and 2011 in Burrinjuck and next year will run again, in the newly formed Goulburn electorate.
The Gundaroo resident, originally from Canberra, was selected by the Goulburn, Southern Highlands and Burrinjuck Greens groups to run against the Coalition’s Pru Goward and an undetermined Labor candidate.
Mr Fyfe told the Tribune he was excited about his prospects for the election in what will likely be his last run around.
“My plan was three runs at it,” he said.
“I’ve got to give it my all because otherwise I’ll be tempted to do it again and I must stop while I’m ahead.”
He said the experience of having three campaigns under his belt will work in his favour.
“I think I have a good understanding of the community and the issues, and the dynamics as far as the politics is concerned.”
He said the Greens would have the community’s best interest at heart, unlike the major parties.
“The Greens consider the future, which is extremely important these days,” he said.
“Change is happening really fast and the Greens always want to keep an eye on how we are going to look a decade down the track or 50 years down the track.”
He added that if elected, he would take a different approach which would benefit the community.
“I think we’ll bring a more grassroots approach to running the electorate…that’s one of the issues I have with the current NSW government with their planning processes, I think they’ve tried to take that away from people.
“They might have had a few good ideas there but I think the end result is people are more disenfranchised. I think the Greens have a better approach to that sort of thing. It’s all about grassroots and it’s all about community and making sure people come first.”
He said the community should have no reservations in entrusting him with their vote.
“I’ll look after voters interests in terms of them as individuals…I truly want to understand what their issues are at all levels.
“I want to get out there and talk with people so that they understand that I’m fair dinkum, I’m straight down the line and I think that’s what they need in a representative.”
Mr Fyfe has lived in Gundaroo for 14 years with his wife and two young children and he also has three older sons. He works in IT Management in a Commonwealth agency in Canberra.
