Only 12 awards of this kind are given out across New South Wales each year, and Shepherd Electrical are the first business from this area to take out the accolade.
The company, which employs almost the entire Wallaroo Fire Brigade, was presented with the award at a special ceremony held at Yass Rural Fire Service Headquarters on Wednesday.
Yass Rural Fire Service Manager Peter Alley said the support of businesses like Shepherd Electrical is essential.
“Without the support of the businesses and employers it would make life very difficult for a lot of our volunteers,” he said.
“Just to be able to leave work and go and attend a fire or training events and that sort of stuff is so important.”
Shane Allan, who nominated Shepherd Electrical for the award, said the recognition was well deserved.
“Neil [Shepherd] is our brigade captain for starters and Shepherd Electrical has always been supportive of us volunteering our time and has never said ‘boo’ to us going to an incident.”
