The draft follows the release of an earlier discussion paper and subsequent consultation with the Yass Valley Economic Development Board, the tourism industry, arts and cultural leaders and the broader community.
The strategy aims to manage Yass’ transition from having an economy primarily based on agricultural practices to one that is much more diverse, robust and sustainable.
Councillor David Needham said he was more than happy with the draft document.
“I’m reminded of Dwight Eisenhower who said ‘no plan is worth a dam, but planning is everything’,” he said.
“The future won’t play out as this strategy lays out the future but it will play out in some useful way as initiated by this strategy. It’s a good strategy, it’s a great starting point.”
The community will have the opportunity to provide feedback on the Draft Strategy until the end of the month through information displays at Library, Visitor Information Centre and Council Office, as well as through council’s website and Facebook page.
