The Maruki Ensemble consists of four artists.
John Gould, violinist, played with the Sydney Symphony orchestra for many years, was principal viola with the London Symphony Orchestra, a founding member of the Carl Pini String Quartet – and the list goes on. We are very privileged to have John in Yass.
Rita Woolhouse, cellist, graduated from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music before studying overseas for a number of years and now enjoys a distinguished career as a freelance cellist, string teacher and AMEB examiner . Rita is very versatile and recently performed at the Edinburgh fringe festival with the Cabaret group “Funkier than Alice”.
Anne Stevens performed Beethoven’s 3rd Piano Concerto in Yass last year to very warm applause. Anne is a former student of Larry Sitsky and is now a soloist, accompanist and chamber musician who has performed most of the major repertoire with noted musicians such as Lauris Elms, Marc Bonetti, and Campbell Barnes. She has worked as repetiteur to soloists from Covent Garden and English National Opera and is one of the pioneers in establishing the strong music culture that continues to flourish in the Central West NSW.
The fourth member of the ensemble is Lorraine Moxey, viola, who has recently joined the group. Lorraine is currently playing viola and violin with the Australian Brandenburg Orchestra.
What a fabulous group of talented performers this is. How fortunate we are to have the Maruki Ensemble in Yass and not have to travel to Canberra to hear such sweet music.
This concert starts at 2.pm on Sunday in the Memorial Hall, Yass. Super afternoon tea will be provided. Casual attendance is just $25. For more information call Brian 6226 3514.
