When asked how they went by Kirk Davis, they couldn't wipe the grin from their faces in announcing that they had won with a plus eight.
Congratulations to Jan and Cathy who will be travelling all expenses paid to Bonville Golf Resort on the Coffs Coast in November for the state final.
Last Saturday was a stableford event and the course must have been playing easy as there were some good scores coming in and you needed 38 points just to get a ball. The grade winners were Rob Field with an impressive 40 points in the A-grade, Doug Oldfield picked up the money in the B-grade with 40 points, while Ed Stanford and Mick Coggan had to settle for a ball each after being done in the count back after also coming in with 40 points.
The Luff Cup is nearing a conclusion with the first of the finalists going through. Rob Field and Gerard Kerin managed to win a good match on Saturday, 2 and 1, over Jamie Roche and Nev Matthews. It didn't help Jamie and Nev that Rob Field managed to pick up two eagles in the match, and when Rob wasn't notching eagles, Gerard would be sinking birdies and pars. Well done to Rob and Gerard.
In the Yass Windscreens and Glass four-person stabrose event held the previous weekend, Ed Stanford, Gerard Kerin, Rob Field and Joe Cooke combined well to produce a great score of 61 points, bettering last year's winner's score by two shots. Just shows the form of the golfer in this group by looking at last weekend's individual results for these players. Congratulations to Ed, Gerard, Rob and Joe for the win and also a big thanks to our sponsor Graham and Helen Fleming from Yass Windscreen and Glass for sponsoring this event once again.
