The week-end program to be held in the Binalong Hall is designed for maximum enjoyment and to include poets at all ages and stages. Saturday and Sunday programs include Poets Breakfast each morning, competitive and non-competitive activities, music and time to relax, chat and explore Binalong. Local glassblower Peter Minson has crafted the “Bubbles Garry” and “Adrian Sykes” prizes for the overall winners. All awards to be announced on Sunday afternoon.
Adult and junior performers who have yet to enter may be in luck – organisers may be able to squeeze you in if you hurry.
The event kicks off at the Binalong Hotel on Friday with a meet and greet, novice and intermediate competitions, then walk-ups (including yarn spinners). Enjoy the thrill of competition and the open mike sessions. The walk-ups provide a warm and encouraging space for the non-competitive, the nervous and those who prefer to read, as well as a warm-up stage for competitors.
A highlight of the weekend will be the Celebrate Australia Concert at the hall on Saturday night. Performing on the evening will be the three judges, celebrated performers themselves, Gregory North, three time Australian Bush Poetry Performance Champion, (The Man of Many Hats, Linden, NSW)., Robyn Sykes current Australian Bush Poetry Performance Champion (The Binalong Bard) and Graeme Johnson, Golden Damper winner (The Rhymer from Ryde, NSW). Plus local musicians will strut their stuff. During intervals sit back, chat and enjoy local wines.
