Michael Fisher won the bronze medal in the Mens Barebow (unsighted) division and Frances Atkins came 15th in the Womens Barebow division.
In a nerve racking medal match over four targets, Michael beat his competitor from the USA by two points. Michael was one point up coming into the last target but Michael, shooting at a 50 meter target was the better shooter. This was Frances' third World Championships and her 15th place is her highest ever world ranking.
After four days of competition these were well deserved results for both archers after months of hard work.
One week prior to these Championships, both archers competed in the Alpe Adria Cup in Pakrac, Croatia. This is a regional event between five counties. Michael came first and Frances came second in their respective divisions.
The Yass & District Archers (at Bowning) will recommence shooting in September, if you are interested in learning archery contact Frances on 0408 637 335.
