The duo gave Raiders fans a tantalising taste of what could have been by dismantling Wests Tigers in Canberra's  27-12 win last week.

However Milford will play his last match for Canberra before joining Brisbane against Parramatta on Saturday, denying the pair a chance to thrive.

Milford and Cornish dominated in the halves at under-20 level, and many hoped they'd be the club's first long-term combination since Ricky Stuart and Laurie Daley.

Their polar opposite attributes as players compliment each other perfectly. Cornish is an organising halfback, which allows X-factor Milford to play on instinct.

"It is a little bit [bittersweet], I like playing with Tony because we've got two different styles of play," Cornish said.

"I'm more structured and boss the team to different points, he's the x-factor who just comes in and does what he does.

"It's good for both of us."

Off contract at the end of next year, Cornish could face a make or break season in 2015 as uncertainty continues to surround the Canberra's long-term halves plans.

Former Raiders halfback Sam Williams will return to the club, while uncertainty continues to surround the future of out-of-favour Raiders skipper Terry Campese.

Despite excelling at fullback the past fortnight, Jack Wighton is a chance to return to five-eighth next year after starting there this season.

Throw in Josh McCrone, and Raiders coach Ricky Stuart has plenty of options to mull over over summer.

Cornish, 21, has had to bide his time before making his run-on debut against the Tigers after six games off the bench.

Stuart preferred Wighton as Campese's halves partner to start this season, and has signalled he may return there in the future.

Cornish said before the season started he'd "love to be in the halves with Jack for the next ten years".

However, his strong combination with Wighton at halfback against the Tigers may change things.

"I thought Jacko's been unreal at fullback, every time he gets the ball he's that dangerous," Cornish said.

"I don't think it's out of the question he'll return to the halves at some point in his career."

Meanwhile, Melbourne have confirmed the signing of Canberra prop Tom Learoyd-Lahrs for next season.

Fairfax Media revealed earlier this month the former representative star was on Melbourne's radar after he held talks with Craig Bellamy, whom he has played under at NSW Origin level.

After a spate of injuries Learoyd-Lahrs had fallen out of favour with the Raiders, and hasn't played a single NRL game this year.

In a Storm statement the 28-year-old said he was excited to reunite with Bellamy, who has a strong record of reinvigorating the careers of veteran props in Melbourne

"I'm extremely grateful for the opportunity Melbourne Storm have provided in enabling me to hopefully re-establish my NRL career," Learoyd-Lahrs said.

"It will be an honour to have the chance to play with such great players as Melbourne possesses.

"Once I spoke to Craig, I knew that working under his guidance was the best opportunity for me to get back to playing regular week to week NRL."

Meanwhile, Raiders back rower Joel Edwards has been announced as the club's finalist for the Ken Stephen Medal, which rewards players for work in the community.

Campese won the award last year for his charity work, and Edwards has been nominated partly due to his role as an ambassador for Ronald McDonald House.
