The Gunning Fireworks Festival last Saturday went off with a bang – or really a cacophony of explosions that lit the night skies in rainbow colours! Numbers have been estimated to be over 6000.
Local groups did exceedingly well. The Lions Club of Gunning, as well as the traditional fare of sausage and steak sandwiches, had prepared fifteen legs of lamb and still sold out!
Martin Brady from Fireworks Australia was delighted with the event and said “We are very grateful for the patience and generosity of the Gunning community in embracing this event that does cause some disruption. Fireworks Australia intends to put more money and resources into the Festival to ensure that it is even better in the future.”
The October long weekend is only two weeks away and as usual Driver Reviver will be operational at Mundoonen Rest Area with Gunning/Fish River RFS allocated two shifts.
The monies raised go towards the work of local volunteer fire fighting crews. The fire season is not far away so can you help out for four hours? Please contact the Driver Reviver co-ordinator on 0417 663 045.
