Last Friday when the Bookham Memorial Hall was packed with friends and supporters, the Bookham Berremangra Red Cross and the Bookham Hospital Auxiliary held a dinner and Century of Fashion event.
With the compere Mr Kim Turner dressed in white tie and tails, it would have to be the Bookham equivalent to the Logies.
The eight beautiful young ladies and the six handsome young (and older) men paraded uniforms and fashions commencing from World War I in 1914 until 2014.
The evening commenced with the Light Horse Uniforms and the Red Cross and Junior Red Cross dress as worn in 1914 and the centenary story of the Australian Red Cross. The parade then continued until 1939 when the Red Cross and World War II uniforms appeared and the 75th Anniversary of the Bookham Berremangra Branch was celebrated.
The social parade was coordinated by Bimbi Turner, with a combination of fashions from her own wonderful collection and other members of the community.
George Henderson was the lucky winner of the gourmet hamper which was first prize in the raffle and the second prize, the Red Cross Centenary Rose, was won by Les Aldridge.
Many thanks to Bimbi and Kim Turner, the wonderful models and the branch members for providing the dinner and selling the raffle tickets. Also thanks to Richard Glover the photographer on the night and a huge thank you to the community for supporting the event.
