A train on fire and stranded on a 20-metre high overpass in Granville caused traffic chaos as firefighters struggled to reach the blaze on Tuesday night.

The fire was reported about 7.30pm and took more than three hours to extinguish.
At 11pm, the train line was still partially closed in both directions between Granville and Cabramatta. But services were running as normal on Wednesday morning, Sydney Trains said.
Earlier on Tuesday night, emergency services had blocked off the intersection between Parramatta Road and Woodville Road as they attempted to access the fire.
There were no passengers on the train, authorities said, but firefighters had to evacuate the driver using an aerial platform. The driver was not injured.
A spokesman for Fire and Rescue NSW said that the fire was in the second carriage of the train, and was located in the power generator in the roof of the carriage.
Access to the fire was slow as firefighters isolated the train's power source.
Minister for Transport Gladys Berejiklian said she had asked Sydney Trains to investigate the incident.
"Sydney Trains' crews are working into the night to repair overhead wiring and get the line back up and running for customers. I apologise to customers caught out in the delays and expect a full report from Sydney Trains about what caused tonight's incident."
The fire was extinguished about 11pm.
