Yabbies, worms and shrimp continue to be the best option at the bottom end of the dam, fishing from the bank around the edges. Not too much at all happening on the trees out deep. Bob from Campbelltown, stayed with us for over a week, fished mainly the Goodradigbee River Arm with yabbies and shrimp but caught the biggest of his 20 fish at 61 cm on a worm after running out of other baits.
Bob fished shallow water along the edges tying up to drowned trees in six to eight feet of water. I have managed a few fish in the same stretch casting 13g Jackall Tranzams, and 54 cm was my biggest. I travelled to the top end of the dam to Good Hope Resort on Saturday evening to catch up with the boys from the Yass Soldiers Club Fishing Club. They played host to the Young Bowling Club and Smithfield Fishing Club. Fine food and beverage was supplied during the evening. Terry Scorgie took out the biggest fish at 3kg and Chrissy Davis won Junior Angler. The lure of choice was the old faithful copper flash with a bunch of worms trolled behind the boat. The bait fishing was very slow as was most other lure fishing. Dropping barometer and water levels would have affected the fishing. The water level as dropped around one metre from its peak two weeks ago. The water levels should however be on the rise for this weekend as will the barometer and temperatures.
Still getting the odd fish appearing on the catch sheet. There are thousands of small fish visible in the water along the edges of the dam. Not sure what species.
Plenty around with worms and corn the best bait.
