"I've got all the most exciting bits of a rodeo and put them together," he continued.
"It's an action packed three hours and everyone goes home wanting more!"
The Murrumbateman Rural Supplies Rodeo Stampede starts at 5pm at the Recreation Grounds, and with bull-riding, steer wrestling, bare-back and saddle-bronc riding there is sure to be carnage.
"That's what it's all about, keeping the crowd on the edge of their seats," Darmody said.
In the odd moments when the crowd isn't covering their eyes and gasping, they'll be in stitches courtesy of announcer 'Big' Al Wilson.
"Al did it last year and he was really funny, he kept the crowd laughing throughout the day so it's good we've got him again."
Also lending his services is rodeo clown Duncan Burleigh.
This will be the second Murrumbateman rodeo in recent times and the first with the shortened evening format.
"It was really hot and pretty drawn out last time, so I decided to start this one in the evening and compact everything, which I think everyone will appreciate."
It has been 12 months of preparation in the making, and Darmody expects the strong advertising campaign to result in "a packed hill" and close to 2000 patrons.
"We've had the inflatable bull up in Comur Street and at the Field Days, we've had posters and signage everywhere so yeah we're expecting a big turnout, there's definitely a buzz about it, especially in Murrumbateman."
The ABCRA event counts towards the national title and $10,000 worth of prizes will be on offer, so it's no suprise that more than 70 competitors have nominated.
There will also be a raffle with hundreds of dollars up for grabs.
Major sponsors of the stampede include Yass Towing, Luff Motors, Australian Hotel and the Club House Hotel.
The event is BYO and the after-party will be held at the Murrumbateman Country Inn.
Tickets can be bought from the Yass Newsagency or Murrumbateman Rural Supplies ($15 single/$40 family) or at the gate ($20/$50), and there is free admission for children under five and seniors over 80.
