The festival organisers are very excited to have Canberra artist Victoria Lees taking the helm for the main stage art decor, and working with her is the team from Bamboo DNA, a collective of engineers who have constructed amazing sculptures at festivals around the world.
Due to demand, organisers have released the music program early for all three music stages (available via the website and Facebook page). This year’s lifestyle area showcases diverse, interesting and entertaining activities. Workshops, held over three days, include topics such as speculative palaeontology, fire staff making, yoga and knitting. The workshop space turns into a cinema by night, with plenty of cushions and beanbags for patrons to relax on. A dedicated art space and gallery with a communal art area will facilitate activities for the creative folk, and the "Evolver Lounge" offers poetry, art jams, comedy and theatre/improv games, open mic sessions and much more. All musicians are invited to bring their instruments along to the Evolver for impromptu jam sessions (whether they have been booked to play officially or not).
The healing space is a marquee where patrons can choose to receive massage, reiki, crystal energy healing and more or just chill out and meditate in the space. The kids space caters for the young (and young at heart!) with nursery rhymes, sing-alongs, clothing hacks, circus toy making and face painting. All of these activities and workshops are provided free for patron entertainment.
For those preferring to just stroll and take in the sights and sounds, there will be plenty of roving performances including magic shows, dancing and acrobatics. The market village will feature stalls selling everything from exotic foods to plants, from jewellery, clothing and toys to books and beautiful handmade objects. And for those who like to get dressed up, there is a fancy dress evening on the Saturday every year to coincide with the opening ceremony. There is certainly a lot to offer over the four days of the festival.
Tickets for $180 at www.dragondreaming.net until tomorrow then $220 at the gate.
