The Piranahs only had one match at the weekend courtesy of a Royal Hotel Pirates forfeit but it was a decisive one, taking on the previously undefeated Soldiers Club Snipers. Unbelievably the reigning Triggs Shield champions, the Snipers, batted first but could only manage 49 runs before they were bowled out in the 18th over.
The Piranhas had no trouble chasing the total down, with the partnership between Phil Sparnon and Adam Forth getting the job done in 14 overs.
In the B-grade Stoney View Merino Cup, three teams finished undefeated after the four fixtures. The Dalton Dingos, Harden and the Soldiers Club Horns all finished on eight points. Dalton and Harden both won four from four, while the Horns won three from three and had a bye. The Tribune believes the winner has yet to be determined as run rates now come into the equation.
The first round of the Triggs Shield and Sweeney Cup gets underway this weekend.
