Some of the interesting new titles at Yass Library include:
The art of Zentangle
Written by Margaret Bremner, Zentangle is a meditative process of creating art, wherein simple shapes and lines combine to make a complicated and interesting final piece of artwork.
Going round the bend in search of old tractors
Written by Ian M. Johnson, the book contains photographs of rare and unusual tractors. Some of these and their accompanying text are of significant historical importance.
The never um ever ending story
Written by Ian "Molly" Meldrum, his warm, vivid, often hilarious and always compelling account of life in and out of Countdown.
Shed
Compiled by Simon Griffiths, from fabulously cluttered artists' studios overflowing with creativity and inspiration to evocative abandoned ruins, these sheds will make you look at your own in a new light.
Movie Monday
The screening of "Phar Lap" will take place on November 3 at 10.30am. Phar Lap, the legendary Australian racing horse, is as well-known today for his mysterious death as for his fabulous accomplishments in life. Beginning at the end, the film flashes back to the day that Phar Lap, despite his lack of pedigree, is purchased on impulse by trainer Harry Telford. Phar Lap loses his first races, but Telford's faith in the animal is unshakable. Suddenly the horse becomes a winner, thanks to the love and diligence of stableboy Tommy Woodcock. Written by Hal Erickson bookings can be made by ringing the Library on 6226 1305.
U3A Art Group Display
During the Classic Yass Weekend on November 1, members of the U3A Art Group will be displaying some of their work in the Library from November 1-8 during Library hours. The artists all work in mediums of their own choice and most of the art works will be for sale during the time they are displayed. Membership of the U3A Art Group is open to all retirees and volunteer tutors Margaret Carr and Cathy Pearsall supervise the weekly classes. Further information can be obtained from Margaret or Cathy.
A reminder that access to the Council car park adjacent to the Library will not be available, due to street closures for Classic Yass activities in Banjo Paterson Park over the weekend.
