Canberra-born Carters will bat at No. 6 for the Blues in their one-day domestic final against  the WA Warriors at the SCG on Sunday.

It's a position Bevan revolutionised on the world stage, repeatedly guiding Australia to victory through a combination of patience and calculated hitting.

Bevan spent time with Carters and his Blues teammates in Brisbane and has helped his fellow Canberran with the move down the order.

It's clearly worked - Carters' top score is 65 and he's averaging 80.3 during the one-day competition this season and helping guide NSW to victory on four occasions.

"Bevo was actually up in Brisbane on our pre-season trip where he was there as a batting mentor and offered some advice and wisdom to us young and aspiring batsmen," Carters said.

"It was great to hang out with Bevo and learn a few of his tricks."

It will be the third final Carters will play against fellow Canberran Jason Behrendorff.

They faced off in last season's Sheffield Shield showdown at Manuka Oval, as well as a Cricket ACT final at the same venue a few years ago when they were playing for Wests and Tuggeranong respectively.

So far the ledger sits squarely in Carters' favour - the 24-year-old has won both contests and he hopes to keep that run going on Sunday.

But he wouldn't be drawn on whether he had the wood over his fellow Canberran.

"We've certainly had a few face-offs in finals scenarios," Carters said.

"I think every final is an individual contest, it's about who plays well on the day.

"At the Blues we talk about the best you can do is to make the finals, and then after that you've got to release any expectations and just know it's about who plays best on the day."

While Carters has been getting the job done for the Blues, Behrendorff has been similarly important opening the bowling for WA.

He took 2-3 from five overs when the Warriors skittled Tasmania for just 62, as well as 3-38 against South Australia.

Carters said Behrendorff was dangerous because of his height, his ability to swing the ball and his consistency.

The 24-year-old quick established himself at state level last summer, taking 40 Shield wickets at an average of 22.70, which earned him a call-up for the Australia A tour of South Africa in winter.

Carters felt the lanky left-armer was ready to take the next step and play for Australia.

"I'd love to see him gaining higher representative honours right away," he said.

"He's a quality bowler and his statistics suggest that in recent seasons, I'd love to see him get an opportunity as soon as possible."

Last summer Carters set up his charity Batting For Change, which raised $30,000 to help with education in developing countries.

This season he wants to raise double that and will launch a campaign on November 5.
