"You should see my arm," he laughed.
The organiser and rodeo clown, ran onto the arena dirt to distract the bull from the fallen rider when he was caught underneath the 700 kilogram beast.
"Yeah he trod right on the back of my arm but it could have been a lot worse.
"Before that I ran on to help the other clowns without padding and the bull struck me in the quad, it's still pretty tight."
In the lead up to the Murrumbateman Rural Supplies Rodeo Stampede, Darmody had promised plenty of action and he more than delivered, with a number of excitable bulls, steers and broncos keeping the 1000-strong crowd entertained.
The most notable performance came from Bathurst bull-rider Richard Treanor. Treanor won the event with 76 points and then stayed on the feature bull 'Harry Houdini' for seven seconds, pocketing a cool $700 for his efforts.
"There was a really good atmosphere," Darmody told the Tribune.
"The fact that it was the weekend after the Field Days probably didn't help with numbers but the crowd was vocal and the competitors really enjoyed themselves."
Darmody plans to push back next year's edition to February while maintaining the same format.
"All the feedback was positive, people love the shortened rodeo so there are no dramas there.
"It's just about building on it, so preparations for next year's event as well as the Boorowa rodeo will start soon."
Darmody wanted to thank major sponsors - Murrumbateman Rural Supplies (in particular Julieanne Pascoe); Club House Hotel; Australian Hotel; Yass Towing; and Luff Motors. He also wanted to thank all the volunteers including the McClung, Driscoll and Moran families and all those who supported the event.
Raffle winners on the night were - first place ($300 rodeo vest and hamper): E Froufheger; second place: Leah Moran; third place: P Wilkinson; fourth place: Max Donohue; fifth place: Bronwyn Flynn; sixth place: Roger Morse; seventh place: Lisa Milnar; and eighth place: Ady Ball.
