Having just been refilled and made ready for use, the Yass Olympic Swimming Pool and Binalong Memorial Swimming Pool will be open every afternoon from 2pm (3pm at Binalong) to 7pm.
One of the 10 Yass Valley Council lifeguards on duty roster across the two pools, Michael Wilkinson, says he is looking forward to the swimming season and is pleased the hot weather is now here.
“I’ve been a lifeguard at the Yass Pool for five seasons now and it’s always a great feeling around late October when the cooler weather starts to drop off and the warmer weather creeps in," he said.
“The Council lifeguards have been training hard over the last few weeks – we had refresher training at Queanbeyan Pool and Wagga Wagga earlier this month, and are all most definitely looking forward to getting back to work on the first of November."
The Yass pool will first be open in the afternoons and then from 10am to 7pm starting November 24 with 7-8pm adult lap swimming on Monday and Wednesdays from December 1.
Swimming lessons will be held at the Yass pool during the January school holidays. To book call 6226 1593.
