Porter completed his near perfect rounds without any major mishaps along the way shooting no worse than 3 over in any of them to take the tournament by an impressive 21 shots.
In the B-grade, Bernie Puckett has claimed back to back championships. Puckett played some dazzling golf to not once but twice break his age in the championship, by hitting 77s on the first and last rounds of the event. He ended up winning by eight shots from Simon Walker, who was looking good until he had a disastrous last couple of holes and let Bernie sail on in.
In the C-grade championship, George Manson managed to hold onto his lead after the first two rounds to come in with a 14 shot win.
In the Junior Championship, Robby Furner has picked up the first of what could be many championship trophies if he keeps playing golf the way he has been, dropping something like 20 handicap shots since last year’s championships.
In the Masters Championship, Peter Brady has managed to produce some great rounds over the last 3 weeks to take home the trophy. All the other trophies were picked up by another up and coming junior, Ryan Greig, who claimed all the best net prizes of the Garland Family, Noel Brassil Memorial, Jeir Cup and the Fifield Cup trophies, with four great rounds. Other notable rounds during the championships were Mick Bell's 74, Simon Walker's 78, Will Kelly's 74, Mick Coggan with a pair of 73s, Jamie Stanford's 68, Tim Kelly's 75 and Blake Partridge's 71. Thanks must go to Ben and Trish from the Aussie Hotel, for there continued sponsorship of the event. Congratulations to all the winners on a great performance, to all the competitors who turned up for the four rounds, to all the course staff and volunteers, to Kirk Davis in the pro shop and to everyone else who helped out in what was once again another great championships. Thank you from all at the Yass Golf Club.

Dad’s Army report for October 23.
Wilber "The Travelling Man" Whyte was the man to catch this week in the Dad's Army competition, for after putting in some steady practice on Wednesday afternoon his 16 points took the money on what was a great morning for golf. He didn't have it all his own way though as a count back was necessary to sort out the ball winners with 15 points and they were Les Puckett, Rod Perceval and Peter Anderson. Scoring this week went from 16 down to 11 points. Good golfing "boys" until next week.
