With just over a week to go until renowned metal-core band, In Hearts Wake, come to Yass, our three local support bands are vigorously preparing for the youth concert. Yass metal-core outfit, Day 4, will be one of those bands.
“We’re stoked by the opportunity to play with In Hearts Wake,” vocalist Brett Darmody said.
“We’re all massive fans of the group and to play alongside an industry heavyweight like them is just an amazing opportunity.”
The six-piece group formed after hearing about the Indent show.
“I would say we have been together for about six weeks, because it sounds better than a month and a half,” Darmody laughed.
Day 4 is a six-piece band with Craig Wilkinson, lead guitarist, Nick Collins, rhythm guitarist, Daniel McFeeters, drummer, Callum Moldrich, vocalist, and brothers Mitch Darmody, bass and Brett Darmody, vocalist.
“We have all played in different bands before, so we’re not new to the performing game. But this is the first time we’ll be playing together live,” Collins said.
When asked where the name Day 4 came from, none of the musicians could remember.
“Maybe it was because 1, 2 and 3 were taken,” Moldrich said. “Really it was just something that was said and it stuck.”
Day 4 will be playing all of their own original songs at the concert and are looking forward to progressing the band in the future.
“We’re really just concentrating on getting through this concert first, but hopefully down the line we will be looking at getting out an EP and writing some more originals,” McFeeters said.
“I think music has been a great outlet and a great hobby for a lot of people in Yass. There are a lot of musicians here."
“We like the idea of making it into something more like going into a studio; but we don’t want to get ahead of ourselves,” Wilkinson added.
"At this stage we’re going to take it one day at a time, but who knows what will happen down the track."
The Yass Indent youth concert is on Saturday November 29 from 6pm at the Yass Memorial Hall.
