In 2014, the western NSW competition featured three teams more than three and a half hours from Binalong (Trundle, Peak Hill and Condobolin) and another four over two hours away.

However the club's committee members are not concerned about the travel, because they plan to space out their longest away games and stay overnight on occasion.

The decision was based largely on the club believing it would be too strong for the local second-grade competition that they've dominated in recent seasons.

They've retained the services of captain-coach Chris Rawlinson, and the five-eighth expects a large contingent of last year's squad to follow him.

“I think a large number will stay, certainly a couple will go but the boys want another challenge," Rawlinson said. 

"If we went back to George Tooke there would be more who would leave and we might not field a team at all.” 

The allure of representative honours is also a motivating factor according to Rawlinson.

The Brahmans president, Michael Brayshaw, agreed that it was the challenge that prompted the decision.

“I think the move will offer more of a challenge for us as a club, and the players. I am a little nervous about the change of competition but I am looking forward to the coming season,” he said.
