Joining Rachael on stage for the first time will be local teenager Cara Bessey, who was hand chosen from a workshop earlier this year, and the Woden Valley Youth Choir.
In what is likely to become a Canberra tradition, the Canberra Symphony Orchestra presents its inaugural Christmas concert, A CSO Christmas, a festive end-of-year spectacular featuring performances from national celebrities and local musicians.
South Australian music legend Timothy Sexton will conduct the orchestra and act as Master of Ceremonies, and will also sing alongside TV personality Rachael Beck, the Woden Valley Youth Choir and other special guests.
Presenting a mix of modern and traditional Christmas favourites, Mr Sexton said A CSO Christmas will provide the rare experience of being able to interact and sing along with a symphony orchestra.
“I know a lot of people are really looking forward to being able to sing in the concert hall. Normally making noise during a concert is taboo, but at A CSO Christmas it will be encouraged, so this will be a great concert for Canberra’s families to attend,” Mr Sexton said.
Rachael Beck is a regular guest artist with the CSO, most recently in Canberra for the orchestra’s music education program where she sang to 10,000 ACT school children.
Rachael said she loves Canberra and loves Christmas songs, so she’s very happy to be able to combine the two.
A CSO Christmas is on Saturday December 6 at 2pm and 7.30pm, at Llewellyn Hall.
Tickets can be booked through cso.org.au or through Ticketek.
