It’s a grey Monday but the possibility of rain is still teasing us. Only about two spits fell on Sunday night, so maybe we’ll receive today what we had hoped to get last night. Despite lots of watering the gardens are wilting. The frost kills them in winter and the hot kills them in summer. I'm going to plant artificial flowers in the future.

Friends took Leonie Hunter off to Boorowa for a very exciting day out to celebrate her birthday. She enjoyed further celebrations with her family at home. Granddaughter Jessica travelled home for the occasion.
Maria Kosseris had a birthday on the same day and Billy and other family members from Canberra went off to Sydney to wish her well. Maria is in respite care.
Don Glover also had a birthday and once again he has caught up with me (yes, he married an ‘older woman’). We met up with family in Goulburn. The hot weather did not concern us in the air-conditioned Worker's Club.
Joan and Henry Beavis celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with family and friends. Congratulations!
Lindsey Arabin is quite ill in hospital in Canberra and locals are thinking of him and send their wishes for a quick return home.
Clive Langfield unfortunately had to spend most of last week in the Yass Hospital. We wish him well and hope he returns soon.
The craft group (all four or five of them) have called it quits for the year and are hopeful that there will be more interest in 2015. There used to be a large group and it was actually a Tafe course. There were some extremely talented ladies in that group. I was very envious of the lovely patchwork jackets they all made. Now it is mainly a knitting group (some for charity) but is a very pleasant way to spend a couple of hours.
Boorowa vet, Mr Ron Merriman, will be at the Mechanic's Institute on Wednesday December 3 if you want your dogs or cats vaccinated. Working dogs will cost $45 and pets will cost $50. Call 6385 3877.
Last Tuesday and Wednesday the pub bus took patients to the Skin Cancer Clinic in Chatswood. Some of them returned looking like wounded heroes again. Jan Giles and Ian Paterson are to be thanked for organising these trips which help so many people.
The school kids were lucky to have good weather for their second week of swimming lessons. Certificates will be awarded on presentation night. For the last few weeks of school, swimming will be held as the school sport.
Mr Bennett will be attending an information session on Thursday following the school's selection to participate in next year's Early Action for Success Strategy which will help K-2 students.
Blinds are to be installed around the infant's building and will be funded by the school's preventative maintenance grant. Shelving is to be added to the sports store.
This Friday an advisor from the Department of Education and Communities WHS will be at the school to update paperwork and programmes for the WHS. One of the topics will be the Catastrophic Bushfire Declaration and how that will affect the school.
A Christmas Craft Day will be held on Wednesday December 10 and any interested parents are invited to help out.
Beau Ferry was the best fundraiser for the Walk-a-Thon closely followed by Alivia, Georgie, Jack and Ryan. $770 was raised.
Olivia McColl and Ivy Saunders were awarded certificates for their home reading.
Kids, don't forget your band practice on Tuesday and Wednesday at 8.15am.
Stars last week were presented to Thomasina Knight, Abbey Paterson, Maddie Duffy and Tayla Merton.
Until next time.
