They came from far and wide to compete in last weekend’s double header, with the Yass Open Two-Person Ambrose and Yass Open Championships being held.
In Saturday’s Kirk Davis sponsored ambrose it was the Yowani Golf Club pairing of Ian Gibson and John Fitzgerald who took the major prize. They held out another visiting pair of Jeff Leverve and Richard Bance from Gold Creek and local legends Rob Field and Sam Porter, who both posted 64s.
In Sunday’s IA & VP Roberson Landscape Supplies Open Championship, Andrew Tharle from Royal Canberra, playing off a handicap of one, was crowned Champion with his 65 off the stick. Not far behind in second was John Fitzgerald who shot a 68, while the best of the Yass contingent (Mark Holt and Tim Smith) could only manage 70s. In the net, Mick Coggan won on a count back from Lachlan Kemp with 62s. A complete list of winners is published below. Unfortunately the Toyota Yaris, was delivered back to Luff Motors on Sunday evening, with no one managing to get the hole in one. Closest to the prize was Ross Nattrass from Antill Park with a shot to 90 cm. It was good for length, but just a bit off to the right.
Congratulations go to all the winners and a big thanks go out to all the competitors over the weekend with 180 players, many of them visitors, who travelled from Cootamundra, Young, Leonay, Windsor, Antill Park, Yowani, Gungahlin Lakes, Gold Creek, Bermagui, Royal Canberra, Duntryleague Orange, Murrumbidgee, Binalong, Maryborough VIC, Richmond, Bexley, Belconnen, Boorowa, Commonwealth VIC and Dunolly VIC.
As always without sponsors these events just don’t happen, so a big thanks go to our sponsors, Kirk Davis, Rodney Luff from Luff Motors and Brendan Abbey from IA & VP Robertson.
The Presentation Night is been held this evening, all members are welcome to attend, so please book your seats.

Dad’s Army report for December 4.
It would seem by the scores for the 12 troops in the Dad's Army competition last week that they liked the softer going. The troops were shooting low but none better than Ken "The Old Chippy" Burden who carded a very respectable tally of 19 points off his very low handicap to once again take the money on offer. Ken was pushed all the way by Doug Oldfield 18, Ken Reidy 17. There was also a three-way count back needed to sort out the two players with 16 points each and they were Joe Morrissey and Merv Wright. Those players all received a ball for their efforts. Scoring ranged from 19 down to 12 points. Until next week good golfing "boys”.
