MP Katrina Hodgkinson made a number of presentations to community leaders at a ‘Farewell to the Burrinjuck Electorate’ community morning tea at the Yass Memorial Hall recently.

Among the award recipients were June Field, who was recognised for her service to Lions; June Comins for her work with the Red Cross; John Best for his dedication to the Yass Branch of Nationals and John Buckmaster for over 70 years service to the Yass Show Society.
Wendy Findlay, who was unable to attend, received an award for her services to the senior citizens of Yass and Yass Men’s Shed president David Staines and secretary Wayne Stuart were acknowledged for their services to the community and particularly for men’s health.
The Yass branch of the CWA also received an award, accepted by President Joyce Denney, for their services to the community and
Ms Hodgkinson also presented David White with an award for his services to the people of Burrinjuck.
The Hidden Treasures Awards went to Belinda Turner and Leisa Moody and the JP Awards of 50 years went to Clive Langfield and Alfred McCarthy.
Presentation of 2015 Older Citizens Diaries went to Yass Probus, represented by Diana MacQuillan, and the Yass Mens’ Shed.
The Murrumbateman Moving Feast Festival was also granted $10,000 and Makers of Murrumbateman president Bill Crowe was on hand to accept the cheque.
Ms Hodgkinson took the opportunity to encourage community-minded people to apply to be a Justice of the Peace in NSW.
“It’s a great time to apply to be a JP, with a new online smart form making it simpler, easier and faster,” Ms Hodgkinson said.
